Think Safety

Chariton County Ambulance District completed the annual Community Safety Net “Personal Safety Training” with the county schools. The five county third grade classes have been reading the educational material that will teach them personal responsibility and safety. The books were provided by donations from community businesses. The ambulance district distributes the books and works with the teachers on a curriculum of training and report writing. District personal returned to listen to their reports and do a presentation on safety responsibilities. The District chooses a report from each class that best represents safety and the winner receives a gift certificate. All of the reports are then submitted to the Community Safety Net’s “Mr. Computer Contest” to compete against all participating U.S.A. and Canada kids. The Community Safety Net gives away prizes for reports with the top winner receiving a new computer. The local winners chosen by District personal are Madison Brashear from Keytesville School, Anna White from St. Joseph School, Ben McGill from Brunswick School, Zachary Munden from Salisbury School, and Braylee Adams from Northwestern School. All the kids did a great job with their reports and ultimately learned responsible habits. Each program ended with a rally circle with all of the kids joining hands and cheering “one, two, three, THINK SAFETY”.
